Homework Reflections

Homework Reflection 1:

After having read the HTML Dog articles I had already believed that I was done with my glitch site but I decided to include other things to my site because the articles explained it well. While creating my site prior to this I left it pretty simple and even getting an image added to it was extremely difficult because I was doing it wrong. After having read this article I decided to add a list to my home page and to also include different links to my other pages in my website. The same feelings go towards The HTML introduction video because as someone who has only ever coded once and did not get it, its better to see it this way of having specific tag to mean different things. Yet, to also learn about meta tag and doctype it did cause some fear but as I continue to learn these terms will come easier to me. The creative statement was personally hard for me to create because when I create my art I never question why I am doing it a certain way or why I use the medium that I use but this assignment got me thinking. I had to put into words what inspires me but also why I chose to create art that deals with individuality.

Homework Reflection 2:

The reading but Susan Sontag about image-making was extremely thought-provoking. Personally speaking, I am not a photographer in the sense of capturing photos but I am when it comes to directing because I have an image of how I want my scenes to look. When I film or direct in my head I do a lot of still scenes that could be seen as images since there isn't a lot of movement. The most interesting part about the reading was the description of photographing and the way it can reveal things like the camera is this wall between the action and the photographer. Photographers cannot interfere, that's what was interesting to read. The photoshop section of my homework was a struggle. The editing aspect of the images was fun and I was able to play around with colors I realized I enjoy exaggerating colors and saturation and making my images unrealistic to their originality. The hardest part was the exporting aspect of it because it kept changing the dimension of the photo but all I need was patience. The LinkedIn learning videos were helpful and even though they are simple acts they were at first difficult to find but these videos walk me step by step and that makes it easier on me. The videos help to allow me to navigate the steps the I missed in class but also they teach indifferent way. The videos give me new ways in getting the same result.

Homework Reflection 3:

While taking the images themselves was hard. I initially wanted to work with the movement of people because I knew it would create a good illusion but those images of mine were messy and had different depths of field for each image. I then decided to focus on objects. I took images of walls which was also difficult as there is no background but a wall and that is hard to showcase any sense of the depth of field. I finally focused on images that would give me more background clusters. This is why I chose the images that I did, the elevator gave me a lot in the background but a clear focus. In the second image, there is no background but because of the objects on the table, I could use them as a way to blur them out. The editing aspect of this homework was difficult but the linked-in learned gave me more access to understand the concept of the other blurring techniques. My first image was easier to edit as I only felt that it needed one of the blurring techniques, which was easier to use because all I had to do was place it in the correct position. As for my second, that was harder because I originally wanted the entire headphones to be in focus but the curve of the headphones was difficult at the start then I resulted up using a different method to go around my issue. The linked in learning videos allowed for to understand the concept of smart object better. Yet, playing around with the bluring effects and find other ways to blur but the iris was interesting. The iris blur effect was the one that seemed easier to me to use but some of my photos would require a different blurring effect.

Homework Reflection 4:

With this assignment masking was something I enjoyed doing a lot more and something that I found easier for me to grasp, blending on the other hand was difficult. Blending in images and making them seamless was more difficult. For the second image that I created I had many trials and error to make it come out the way that it came out. A lot of it was also playing with a lot of different tools to be able to blend it. It did allow me to learn about the uses of other tools like distortion and the use of the lasso and rectangle tool. Another issue I came along was trying to make the breakage of each image to appear that it was coming out of the water seamless. With a still image it was hard to see how to place the objects and where to cut them so that it flows with how the water was moving in the image. The use of masking was something that was daunting to me from the beginning but when I started to use the linked in learning and apply it to my images I was allowed to have more fun. One of my images needed more masking than the other, with time and more learning I feel like I could do better. The videos allowed me to understand how to use it but I was also to find other tricks on my own from the edit tab. Bledning was also difficult but again the video allowed me to understand how to do it the best way and how to color correct my images to allow them to blend more.

Homework Reflection 5:

This assignment did cause some difficulty because I was confused about what direction I wanted to go about for my social campaign. Then I knew that I wanted to disorient my viewers because of the computer aspect that I made previously. I also wanted so much color on the page. We had created an eye in class previously so I wanted to bring the skills of making an eye into this project because I thought that eyes that made it seem like the viewers were being watched would be perfect. Besides all that the actual transportation of illustrator to photoshop was pretty easy. Layering on illustrator was difficult because sublayers would also get created and that was difficult to manage. The linked learning videos for this one were fun and helpful because they allowed me to see how to create certain shapes. What I did find difficult was the use of radiance especially on text because I originally had the idea of making and colorful gradience on my text but that ended up being too difficult. The radiance aspect of illustrator is difficulty where I struggle most.

Homework Reflection 6:

It was one of the first times where I am designing things like an eye and not like the last homework in which I just designed stars and words. I was trying to get used to the different patterns and the use of anchors. I also wanted to try out different pen strokes. Creating an eye that has an emotion stumped but the use of stars is what I felt would get the emotion across easier. The lack of color was also difficult because my original plan was to create multiple pupils that have the color of the rainbow but instead I decided to use multiple pupils but create a pattern with the colors yellow and red. The linked in videos did allow me to understand more about how to actually create eye and although I did not take a realistic route to create an eye it was still difficult. To create and eye that has emotions was terrifying because I was still grasping how to use certain function. The videos helped me understand the use of the strokes and how to manipulate lines and curves. The switching between a straight line to curved line was confusing at first but then it got better.

Homework Reflection 7:

While using illustrator I realized that out of photoshop and illustrator although they go hand in hand I have more fun designing in illustrator than I do in photoshop. Yet, a difficulty that I came across multiple times while creating my work was the change from a straight-line pen to a curve pen but it did get easier as I kept doing it. What I also had difficulty with was making my shape's angle so that it seemed like it was getting further away – to follow the angle of the building, but what I did, was make it smaller and thinner. The details of the building were also annoying to get through but in the end, I went back to fix them and let them fit my image more than the actual image because the actual image was pixelated and I knew certain points were not straight. This assignment was easily the one that I worked on for the longest but it also my favorite assignment and the linked in videos allowed me to get started but I wanted to see what my own skills could bring to the table. There were parts in my image that are to difficult at first to create like the arch way and the circular top and the background layers but watching the linked in videos from this week and from last weeks I was able to take my time and understand what I was doing.

Homework Reflection 8:

This assignment first hand was scary. When I started with the first GIF of the eyes and I had to use illustrator, this was easier to me as it was like creating a picture flip book and making sure that they are cohesive was also easy with he use of copy and paste. What I did have to change was my eyes because the circles in the eyes made it too docile to draw an eyelid around but also too difficult to copy and paste to make both eyes even. But eventful this was easier to make. Although the second gif and using photoshop and the puppet warp tool was harder for me to understand the mechanic of this tool. The videos and the linked in videos were helpful but with what I was struggling with is making a new layer/ frame and making sure the puppet did not move position. The use of the tool was easy but making sure it did not move from it original position was not. What I then found myself struggling with was the use of a background. I had and original image with the subject in it and thats the image I used but since I did not have this image twice with a subject and without the subject was still in the background and could be seen through the gif. I had to use a new background and not use the original image I had. Luckily I had the same background as the original one but the subject was much further away and I could disguise her. I was able to make this one the background. What I also found consign but the videos that has been provided guided me was how to make frames and organize them but also what the 0.0 and 0.1 difference.

Homework Reflection #9

This assignment was daunting at first because I feared creating an entire presentation from scratch, but because the questions my group and I posed were interesting, I allowed myself to have some fun with it. I knew I wanted the question to correlate like cause and effect, but after viewing the results, it answered this question. These questions about the decade and music genre had little to do with one another. Creating the actual presentation was a lot of fun, as I was able to design something. It was daunting at first because I originally had no idea what I wanted it to look like or even how I wanted to present my data, but then it clicked for me when I decided to change the color of my background to this lilac. That is when I was able to see what color scheme I wanted to use. I also wanted to challenge myself by making my chart a donut and making it 3D too—this was something I knew I wanted to do from the beginning. Everything else was pure decoration and fun, like the colors and the stars. The Linkedin Learning video was extremely helpful, as I was struggling so much to make my chart look the way I wanted it to. I had to play with different methods each time. I struggled to understand how to ungroup and group my data, which was my biggest issue, but LinkedIn Learning helped me see how to do it step by step. The reading for this week was extremely interesting to read, but as someone who does not fully get NFT or does not see the point of them, I saw a new perspective from this reading. I saw that NFT could help people out when they needed it as an extra leg.

Final

This assignment was daunting at first as someone who has never coded a game I do not feel as if this would be possible. But once we got the image mapping tool and I created the illustration for my game it just felt so much easier. What did take me a long time was resizing my images because I forgot that if I resized my images the coordinates for the image mapping would be different and I had to do the process again. Also trying to not get confused on the files for my website because I did have many different endings and I gave the player many options and so therefore I had to create many pages and files and I was getting confused but having created multiple maps for the game that it guided it and helped me to not get confused. The reading for the week was also interesting as the last reading was about NFTs this week was about Bitcoin this was yet again another concept that I do not know a lot of and it was good to learn about it.
