I use photography and image making the same way I make any of my art, not just my art even simple photos I take with my telephone, with this sense of making something small and insignificant stand out. The people and movies that influence the style of photography or any art I make are Wes Anderson and Wong Kar-Wai’s film, Fallen Angels. It could be argued that both styles are completely different but I see them the same, their compositions are the only things that are different. Wes Anderson prides himself on simplicity and animated stills. Wong Kar-Wai although his cinematography in Fallen Angels is chaotic the plot is simple and small. This simplicity is what I strive for in all of my art. As I stated in my creative statement I love capturing the moment that would get overlooked. Everyday life moments, nostalgia, and the intimate, and unnoticed moments of life are what I strive to capture and express. When I take a photo or make videos they are never full or crammed and the viewers' eyes would be confused as to where to focus their attention to. I appreciate straight lines and symmetry but I also appreciate weird angles, blur, distortion, and saturation as long as it is simple. If I were to visually represent the world at this moment I would represent emptiness, sadness, and separation. Showing intimacy is rare, especially with technology, and human-to-human interaction is decreasing.
The motherhood story I chose was called “My Punishment” while watching it I could see why using illustration was better than only using text or using photography. By only using text and only reading it, the reader detaches themselves from the story as they cannot visually see it. As for my story, it was a graphic story, and using photography would have been bad as it would only make the story even more graphic. Yet, by using illustration there is a balance of still using visuals to make the viewer get attached to the story and the message but also not making it too graphic for viewers to see. Using a mix of all of them also add a level of education to a level of interest. Visuals catch a reader but only a few things could be said with visuals and so adding texts helps. The inclusion of the video helps to make the story feel more real. Visuals do not make a story feel real but fictionalized but adding texts about the story and including a video brings the story out of the fiction realm.
Reading this at first, I was confused because I thought that there was no way that this was real. Sometimes I even get ads for apps that claim to give you money for playing them, but I always just believe that they are scams. After reading this article, I am shocked that an app like this can even exist. I'm still perplexed as to how so much money is flowing out of this game to give their players money that completely sustains them financially, but like the protagonist, he can't ask many questions because it benefits him. I am glad that this is a possibility for him because it is hard to work and take care of family members all by themselves, so a game like this existing is nice. I do not get the point of NFT, especially when it pertains to art more than video games. Video games make sense as to why NFT would be a thing that would coincide with them. Yet, art that is based on NFTs just doesn't make sense to me, but maybe that’s just my lack of knowledge about NFTs. NFTs have also just taken over every aspect of media, like music, art, fashion, currency, and video games. I feel as if NFTs will continue to take over other aspects, but as of now, I like knowing that I am still pretty far away from it affecting me. I just also wonder how this game was founded, or how people heard of this game and started playing it themselves; was this a case where they started playing it and later found out about the perks, or did players start playing it because of the perks? Did all players understand the concepts of NFT, or did they learn and teach themselves after?
I don't comprehend bitcoins and cryptocurrencies; they seem to have appeared out of thin air. Are there any connections between the three of them compared to the last reading with NFTs? Because there is no need for a middleman or any intervention from governments, it is obvious from reading this article that there are some benefits to the currency being maintained in this way. However, I am confused by the whole distributing aspect of it. How does that operate? Simply put, it still gives off the impression that the system could be very flawed and lead to a balance issue. There is the perception that certain people have greater influence or power than others.Bitcoin does seem like it might be a positive thing, and I believe that at some point in the far future, it might be the way we use currency. I just still have a lot of questions regarding the basics of bitcoin, including how it came to be, where its value came from, and who decides that.
